The Girard-Perregaux watch brand was founded in 1856, the name being derived from the marriage of Constantin Girard and Marie Perregaux. The company has a long history of innovations starting with the novel concept of the wristwatch in the early 1880s, as well as leading the development of the modern quartz movement.
