Professional Service and Repair of Wakmann Chronograph with Valjoux 730 triple date movement

 Brief History of Wakmann

Wakmann Watch Company was an American-based watch importer founded in the 1940s. In the 1950s. Wakmann partnered with Breitling, allowing them to import and assemble Swiss chronographs for the U.S. market, avoiding high tariffs on finished Swiss watches. By the 1960s and 1970s, Wakmann watches became known for their solid construction, affordability, and reliable quality Swiss movements. The triple date models were typically produced in the late 1960s to early 1970s, with bi-compax or tri-compax layouts.

Valjoux 730 Movement

The Valjoux 730 is a hand-wound chronograph movement that was introduced in the late 1960s. It is a high-grade evolution of the Valjoux 72, enhanced for better timekeeping accuracy and shock resistance.

Servicing the Wakmann Chronograph
This Wakmann Chronograph, powered by the Valjoux 730 movement, underwent a full service that included complete disassembly, ultrasonic cleaning of all components, careful inspection for wear, and replacement of worn parts as needed. The movement was then reassembled and lubricated with high-quality synthetic oils to ensure long-term performance and reliability. After precise regulation and adjustment, the chronograph functions were tested extensively. The watch ran great following the service, with strong amplitude and very good timekeeping.
