Hamilton 982M Wrist Watch Service

Hamilton 982 M Wrist Watch

The Hamilton 982M is one of the most elegant American wristwatches to emerge after World War II, known for its refined finishing and dependable 19-jewel movement. Introduced in 1946 as part of Hamilton’s first wave of postwar civilian watches, the 982M (“M” for Medallion) represented the premium version of the standard 982, distinguished by its enhanced decoration and upgraded movement components. This repair case study showcases our professional servicing of a beautifully preserved Hamilton 982M housed in a clean solid-gold case.

Description of Service Performed

This Hamilton 982M arrived in overall excellent mechanical condition, though typical age-related corrosion was present on a portion of the dial—common for watches of this era. The movement was fully disassembled, cleaned, inspected, and lubricated. With fresh oil and proper regulation, the 19-jewel Medallion movement now runs smoothly and is a good timekeeper. After service, this historic Hamilton wristwatch continues to perform reliably while preserving its original postwar character.
