The service and repair of the Vintage LIP ladies wristwatch with the Durowe 471 movement required both precision and a light-touch to restore it to full functionality. The process began with a complete disassembly of the movement, allowing each component to be thoroughly cleaned of old oils and debris. New synthetic lubricants were then reapplied. The luminous material used on the hands was starting to crumble necessitating replacement.
The set bridge—a critical part of the keyless works responsible for setting the hands—needed replacement, as part of it had broken off jamming the date wheel. Because the Durowe 471 was a well-produced German calibre, original replacement parts are still obtainable for these vintage movements. Once reassembled, the movement was carefully regulated and tested over several days. The timing rate was steady over all positions testifying to a well made generic movement. They still sell quality automatic watches-check out their website.

LIP Company Background
This LIP ladies wristwatch with the Durowe 471 movement is a nice example of mid-20th-century European watchmaking. LIP, founded in Besançon, France in 1867 is known for pioneering electric watches, bold mid-century designs, and collaborations with designers like Roger Tallon. LIP also produced a wide range of mechanical watches during the 1940s–1960s.
For some of its smaller ladies’ timepieces, LIP sourced high-quality ébauche (generic) movements from Durowe (Deutsche Uhren-Rohwerke), a German manufacturer established in 1933 in Pforzheim. The Durowe 471, introduced in the 1950s, was a compact, reliable hand-wound calibre designed specifically for smaller wristwatches.
