Vintage Omega Chronograph Repair

This Omega Speedmaster Professional Chronograph, powered by the legendary Caliber 321, underwent a full service and repair to restore its mechanical performance. The movement was completely disassembled, cleaned, and carefully inspected, and the chronograph mechanism adjusted for smooth operation and precise reset. High-quality synthetic lubricants were used throughout, and the movement was regulated. To retain its original character and collector value, the case received only light polishing, maintaining the watch’s authentic vintage appearance.

Omega Speedmaster History

The Omega Speedmaster Professional Chronograph with Caliber 321 is one of the most iconic timepieces in watchmaking history. Introduced in 1957, the Speedmaster was originally designed as a sports and racing chronograph, but it quickly became associated with space exploration. The Caliber 321, a robust and finely engineered column-wheel chronograph movement, powered the early Speedmasters, including the reference 105.003—the model worn during NASA’s testing—and the famous 105.012 and 145.012, which were used during the Apollo missions.

Most notably, the Speedmaster with Cal. 321 became known as the “Moonwatch” after it was worn by astronauts during the Apollo 11 moon landing in 1969, making it the first watch worn on the lunar surface. The movement itself, based on a design by Lemania, was prized for its durability, precision, and smooth chronograph action. Omega transitioned to the Cal. 861 in 1968, making original Cal. 321 models highly sought after by collectors for their historical significance.
