Vintage Zenith Wristwatch Service and Repair

Introduction

Zenith is a Swiss luxury watch manufacturer founded in 1865 by Georges Favre-Jacot in Le Locle, Switzerland. The name Zenith was adopted in 1911 inspired by the term representing the highest point in the sky, symbolizing excellence. In recent vintage history, Zenith was known for its automatic chronograph with a calander, the El Primero (see SERVICE & REPAIR: Vintage Movado Datron). In between its founding and the El Primero, Zenith produced many fine quality pieces. The watch that I am servicing today is a fine example of a quality Zenith.

Servicing a Vintage Zenith Mens Watch

The watch that I am servicing today is a relatively common but stylish “rectangular “ watch with a fine quality Zenith movement. The style indicates it is from the 1930s-40s, and the dial and case are is fine conditon. The movement is well engineered including a cap jewel on the bottom pivot of the escape wheel providing good accuracy. After servicing it ran very good keeping within 20 seconds/day or better between positions.
