Servicing the Enicar Sharpa Graph
This Enicar Sherpagraph Chronograph underwent a complete mechanical service, including full disassembly of the Valjoux 72 movement. The disassembled parts were then cleaned in a five jar agitation/ultrasonic cleaning machine. The movement was then reassembled and precisely lubricated with high-grade synthetic oils. After regulation, the chronograph functions were tested for smooth engagement and reset. Following the service, the watch ran accurately and reliably, restoring this vintage chronograph to excellent working condition. Pictures of the process are posted below.
History of the Enicar Sherpagraph
The Enicar Sherpagraph is a highly regarded chronograph from the 1960s, produced by the Swiss watchmaker Enicar. Part of the broader “Sherpa” line, which included professional dive and exploration watches.
Introduced around 1964, the Sherpagraph was typically powered by the Valjoux 72, a revered hand-wound chronograph movement also used in iconic watches like the Rolex Daytona. The Sherpagraph featured a tri-compax dial layout (three sub-dials), often with contrasting colors and bold markers for enhanced legibility.
Today, the Enicar Sherpagraph is a sought-after vintage chronograph, prized for its combination of a high-grade movement, sporty aesthetics, and authentic 1960s motorsport heritage.
